Synthetic Biology Event
Designing Life: The Promise & Perils of Engineering Organisms
7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at PACCAR IMAX Theater, Pacific Science Center
In the last 50 years, computers and genetics changed how we understand and interact with the world around us. In the next 50 years, many researchers believe the emerging area of science called “synthetic biology”—altering or designing living organisms to perform new tasks—could become a defining technology of the 21st century. This combination of existing aspects of science, engineering, and technology is rapidly evolving and raises many questions about its possibilities and risks.
Join us for an interactive conversation with a panel of local researchers to explore how synthetic biology is re-designing our present, and how it might influence our future. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
