'Talking Rains' bike team takes first!
Congratulations to the Talking Rains for finishing in first place for most miles commuted in the month of January in the annual Ride in the Rain Competition sponsored by Transportation Services at the University of Washington. The Rains competed with 90 teams this year and rode a total of 2,364 commuting miles in the rain, wet, and cold. The Rains blew away the competition by 121 miles. Team members consist mostly of EE faculty, staff and students. Members include Brian Flaherty from Psychology, Terry Brooks from the Information School, Kevin Kerkof from the Washington Technology Center, Scott Campbell (formally of EE; now with the Washington Technology Center), Captain Sarah McQuaide, Dan Dailey, Tom Jones, John Koschwanez, Shawn McGuire and finally newcomer Brian Otis who put the team over the top.
