How to Obtain an EE Account

As of September 2015 the EE department has migrated many of its systems to use UW NetID authentication. Having an EE account is still necessary, though - see "Why do I need an EE account?" for more information.

Getting an EE Account

Department faculty, department staff, and students taking EE courses are eligible for an EE computer account. This account is provided for educational purposes only. An EE computing account is required for access to many department-supported computing services, including: access to EE's Linux computing lab, acquiring department licensed/donated software, and support from the EE computing staff.

You are required to read and accept our account policies before applying for an account.

Note that creating an EE account also creates an EE email address. Messages sent to this EE address are automatically forwarded to your UW email. The address looks like username@ee.washington.edu - so if your username is joe, for example, your EE email address is joe@ee.washington.edu .

Students (including PMP)

Use the on-line account creation form. This requires that you already have a UW NetID (see below). EE majors or UW students registered for a class in the current quarter should be able to create an account online. If you have trouble with the form come talk to one of the departmental computing staff. Be sure to bring your Husky Card with you.

If you cannot visit us to have your account created, and cannot use the web form, please contact the EE computing staff to arrange some other way to create your account.

Faculty, Staff, Visitors, Post-docs, and Others

Once you have your UW NetID (see below), come talk to one of the departmental computing staff. Please bring your Husky Card. An EE computing staff member will help you create your account.

More information is available regarding what support EE Computing offers to department faculty and staff.

Once you have an EE account, you can manage it online.

Getting a UW NetID (UW computing account)

The University of Washington's web pages are the best source of information on UW NetID. For more information, visit the UW's "About UW NetIDs" page.

Employees: Faculty, Staff, Visitors, Post-docs, and Others

Once your appointment has been processed and entered into the UW payroll system, our Payroll Manager will be given a special code (by UW, not by EE Computing) that will let you create your UW NetID. Please work with the appropriate person to get your appointment processed in a timely manner. Faculty and visitor appointments are handled by the Assistant to the Chair; staff appointments by the Department Administrator; and other appointments will be handled by your sponsor's support person.
