Speech, Image and Video Processing Group

Research and teaching in our group is on fundamental theory and applications to real-world signal processing problems. We adhere to the departmental mission statement of "educational excellence through cutting edge research," and offer a large number of courses from the introductory undergraduate level to advanced graduate courses and directed study.

Signal processing touches a large variety of engineering problems, from communications to human-computer interaction to medical signal information processing. The specific application areas associated with research in our group include:

Fundamental theoretical work that spans multiple problem applications is in the area of modulation signal processing, signal enhancement, models of symbolic time series, pattern recognition and data compression.
